Hamble-Warsash Ferry
Brand development – cross media
The Hamble-Warsash Ferry is a small family company located on the famous river Hamble in Hampshire. The company also runs a small boat yard, river taxi, moorings rental and maintenance.
Brief
Rebrand the company, create awareness and drive new customers in all areas of the business.
Approach
Create a new brand that drives advertising via word of mouth through eye-catching design.
Solution
Due to the poor distinction of the ferry from other similar boats, potential passengers were not able to see if the ferry was operating. This caused a huge loss in trade.

We persuaded Hamble-Warsash Ferry to re-brand with a bright pink colour that offered distinction from the surrounding boats. The new brand was applied across the fleet of boats.

We created visual journey markers for potential passengers from the car park, along the foreshore to each of the ferry landing points. Operating time boards and fare boards were positioned along the way, also in bright pink.

To increase the efficiency of the service and simplify the tariffs, we devised a structured price guide based on the river geography. Naturally, this was pink too.

To attract a new market we created a 30-second advertisement that was displayed on a large plasma screen in the local shopping centre. The advert offers a solution for a cheap, fun day out 365 days of the year.
